Location:
Downtown

Year-Round

SNOB (Or Slightly North of Broad) is a gorgeous area of downtown Charleston. Overlapping with the French Quarter, it covers the area of Charleston north of Broad Street and south of Market Street. It’s an incredible area of Charleston filled with churches, art galleries, and some of my favorite houses…especially the doors. If you are a sucker for pretty doors, like me, this is definitely where you want to go!

Beautiful brown door with an intricate transom and gas lantern
Love the contrast between the wood door and bright stucco
Patina covered water spout
Even the water spouts are beautiful
Black door with an arched transom and blue tile address number
The cobalt tile against the terracotta walls are breathtaking against the gas lanterns

Start at Washington Square Park where you can enjoy a picnic or listen to the birds. Head straight through the park to Chalmers Street to see an original cobblestone street. From there, you will walk down State Street, Cumberland Street, Philadelphia Alley, Queen Street, and Church Street. The link below includes a Google Map. On Church Street, you will find the Dock Street Theatre, St. Philips Church, and the French Huguenot Church.  End your walk at Bitty & Beau’s for a coffee or a snack. It is less than a mile so just enough time and distance to see this incredible neighborhood.
