I love Hampton Park – it is a favorite for sure! In its history, it was an orange grove, a thoroughbred race course, and a camp for Confederate soldiers. Hampton Park even hosted an international trade show in 1901. Officially becoming Hampton Park in 1903, there was even a zoo with lions and bears until 1975. Today, there is a beautiful walking/running path with azaleas and oak trees everywhere. And plenty of picnic tables with wide open spaces for kids of all ages to run around, And the best part – a lake with a gorgeous fountain and ducks and geese. We started bringing our kids here before they could even walk and we still have fun when we visit Hampton Park. There is usually plenty of parking and restrooms.

Our absolute favorite thing to do is feed the ducks and geese. I just always have to keep an eye on my daughter…she threatens to steal the baby ducks when she sees them.

Local tip: You’ll often find people taking family and individual portraits in the park. If you want to get some great pictures, you have plenty of options at the Gazebo, fountains, or in front of the trees. And bring some lettuce or plain oats to feed the ducks and geese.
